Research on Psychological Thrillers

This short trailer was well thought out, all the differents shots add to the psychological theme. When watching this trailer I didnt know what to believe was going on, also the bacground music adds to the suspense and kept me engaged into whats actually going to happen next.

We thought we could use some techniques from the trailer-the voice over at the beginning gave us the idea of realism. Also the changing of voices speaking throughout the voice over are different, its almost as if there having a conversation between them. Close up shots of the protagonist help show the audiece exaclty what they need to see in order tro know whats going on. We thought doing this would give more variety of shots.

The music immediately starts, straight away the audience is locked into the trailer, the music goes perfectly to whats on screen and the timing of shots interlink; this looks more artistic, creative and well thought out. We also took into account the dark shots;when set in a room, this leaves mystery running throughout the audience's head, something we needed to incorporate within our short film.
Thrillers incorporate conspiracy within their narratives. Themes of mental illness and insanity are also clear cut throughout the film, similar to our short film we used the theme of split personallities and dellusion which is the key aspcet of 'shutter island'. Combining psycholgical illnesses and conspiracy we see how the audience is keen to see the development of the film/story line.

A range of shots come into play whilst a voice over is going on, by doing so it urges the audience to watch as well as listen-we knew if we used this our audience would be more engaged and hungry to know what
happens next.

The background music goes from quiet to loud followed by a action scene. Everything runs smoothly and as a unit. Fading out to black on different shots also leaves mystery and illusion to what occurs next and keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
